A Texas Rock Legacy

BUSHBULLIT is a slang word for Armadillo, which has been a symbol for Texas music for years.  It brings back memories of the Armadillo Headquarters in Austin, Texas in the early 70's.  BUSHBULLIT is from South Texas and plays Texas inspired Rock and Blues.

0.B. Gonzalez, lead guitarist and vocalist, and Vic Godines the current drummer have known each other since they were in high school.  Vic first worked with 0. B. in a band called Apple.  In an early success, Apple recorded two albums that produced two single releases that were regional hits in South Texas.

After Apple disbanded in late 1972, 0. B. subsequently formed the original BUSHBULLIT.  In 1976, BUSHBULLIT started playing at Inza's Lonesome Coyote Saloon, in Corpus Christi, Texas.  Two years later, while playing at The Lonesome Coyote, 0. B. met Walter Presley, current bassist and vocalist for BUSHBULLIT.  After the addition of drummer Billy Cartier in 1986, this legendary coalition of accomplished musicians proved to be exceedingly durable, with a melding of talent that elevated BUSHBULLIT into a league of their own.  For over ten years they continued to make their presence known on the South Texas music scene.  The winds of change, which resulted in Billy's departure from BUSHBULLIT in late 1997 also, heralded the return of Apple drummer, Vic Godines.

This convergence of Vic, Walter, and 0. B. has brought into focus a potent combination of many years of musical experience and raw talent.  Their nightly repertoire includes tributes to Texas greats like Freddie King, Willie Dixon, ZZ Top, The Fabulous T-Birds, Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Delbert McClinton.  There are also tributes to the Allman Bros., Hendrix, Cream, George Thorogood, Creedence, Bob Seger and Lynyrd Skynrd.  BUSHBULLIT continues a legacy and tradition started long ago.  Their inspiration comes from early Texas greats like Freddie King, Albert King and Johnny Winter.  This synergistic alliance of Texas Rock and Blues musicians collectively represents the dynamic make up and sensational sounds of the South Texas' best kept secret, BUSHBULLIT.
